Validated molecular level technology for in-field use

NGIQ is the peak industry body providing technical support including plant health and systems analysis to production nurseries throughout Queensland, Australia.  NGIQ has identified the need for rapid, reliable and cost effective plant disease diagnostics for in-field use in Australian horticulture.  The Pocket Diagnostic Test Kits meet this need and are providing diagnostic support to the network of Farm Management System Officers servicing production nurseries under the independently audited Nursery Production Farm Management System.

In 1999 the government  of the United Kingdom originally developed the Pocket Diagnostic Test Kits for government plant health inspectors capable of detecting a range of potato and tomato viruses.  The technology proved so successful that the product range has expanded to cover key bacterial, viral and fungal diseases affecting a broad cross section of horticultural crops.  The uptake by growers and plant health professionals including research institutes, agronomists and plant health laboratories has validated the technology and its application in disease detection and management within plant production.

All demanding high quality and reliability, clients continue to use Pocket Diagnostic kits as part of their routine disease monitoring programmes or as a direct reaction to potentially devastating disease outbreaks.

The kits are developed and manufactured in the UK, using state-of-the-art equipment in controlled environment production facilities.  The tests are validated comprehensively and show over 96% correlation with laboratory diagnostic methods increasing to 99% with experienced use.
